This term is mostly used in Unix based systems and also Mac OS. In Windows, it is referred as blue screen of death (BSOD). A kernel panic can be generated due to some hardware fault, such as HDD failure, data corruption, overheating, incorrect installation of hardware. It can also be triggered by a malware or incompatible drivers. This error displays a set of message which states the cause of the panic screen. This message is difficult to understand for an inexperienced user.
